FAQ

Answer your questions

What is Cognitive Athletics?

Cognitive Athletics is a coach-led training system that improves cognitive and physical performance. Using the Smart Pad and our signal-based method, we help older adults improve reaction time, focus, balance, and coordination - safely and measurably.

How does the training actually work?

Our method, called Signal Training, delivers quick-response visual cues through the Smart Pad. Seniors respond with movements that activate both mind and body. Each session is short, adaptive, and led by a trained coach who guides the user in real time.

Is it safe for older adults?

Not at all. While we’ve trained over 10,000 professional athletes, our program is designed for every ability level = including those with mobility issues, cognitive decline, or no previous training experience.

Does it help with Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s?

While Cognitive Athletics is not a cure, our method is used in programs that support those with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. We focus on improving cognitive engagement, motor control, and confidence - all of which play a critical role in slowing decline.

Is this based on real science?

Yes. Our assessments and training protocols are grounded in peer-reviewed research in neuroplasticity, sensorimotor learning, and attention systems. We’ve built the platform in collaboration with neuroscientists, therapists, and fitness professionals.

What kinds of cognitive skills do you improve?

We target reaction time, decision making, timing, attention, task switching, memory, and executive function - skills that affect independence, safety, and daily confidence.

Do you offer group programs or just individual sessions?

Both. Our programs are flexible and can be run in senior centers, assisted living homes, rehab clinics, or at home with a caregiver. One-on-one and group formats are available and fully supported.

Who runs the sessions?

All sessions are coach-led. Either a certified Cognitive Athletics Coach leads the session or we train your staff using our Coach Certification Program, designed for caregivers, therapists, and wellness staff.

Can caregivers or staff be trained to use this?

Yes. We offer a Coach Certification Program that equips professionals to safely and effectively run training sessions within your organization.

How long before we see results?

Most users begin to see improvement in 3-6 weeks, including faster reactions, better movement control, and improved attention. Progress is tracked through repeat tests and visible performance data.

Does this replace physical therapy or brain games?

Not necessarily. It complements them. Cognitive Athletics bridges the gap between mental and physical training. It’s a unique layer of care that can be integrated into wellness, fitness, or rehab programs.

Is there a digital component or app?

Yes. Our digital platform tracks performance and progress, visualizes results, and helps coaches tailor each session. We also have printable results for those who are less tech savvy.

Who do you partner with?

We work with senior living facilities, clinics, home care providers, therapists, insurance companies, and community organizations to deliver high-impact cognitive training at scale.

Can we pilot this before rolling it out?

Yes. We offer demo sessions, pilot programs, and onboarding support to ensure it’s the right fit for your community.
